Welcome to Fisher

Welcome Weekend is designed to help you acclimate to Fisher. You’ll meet new friends as you learn about campus life, academic and behavioral expectations, campus support services, and all that Fisher has to offer.

Fall 2025 Welcome Weekend

Mark your calendar for August 30 - September 2. 

  • First-Year Residential & Commuting Students: plan to arrive Saturday, August 30
  • Residential Transfer Students: plan to arrive Sunday, August 31
  • Commuting Transfer Students: plan to arrive Monday, September 1

Saturday, August 30: Get Comfortable

Residential first-year students: get settled, pick up your room keys, and meet the other students on your floor and the Residential Life staff. Connect with your Orientation Leaders at the Orientation Kickoff.

Commuting first-year students: check in and pick up your ID cards at the Commuter Kickoff at 3 p.m.

All families and guests are invited to grab a sweet treat at the Family Farewell from 1-3 p.m. outside the Donald E. Bain Campus Center.


Sunday, August 31: Get Ready

First-year students: learn important information about life as a Fisher student and spend time with your Orientation Group (classmates, folks in the same school or major, and other students from your building or commuting students).

Residential transfer students: move in, unpack, and spend time with your Orientation Group. Join the afternoon and evening activities to connect with all new students.

*Transfer students who are commuting are also welcome. Please let us know if you’ll be here by communicating with your Orientation Leader (whose contact information will be emailed to your Fisher email) or the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership by emailing campuslife@sjf.edu


Monday, September 1: Get Going

First-year students: spend the time today with your first-year seminar instructors, peer mentors, and classmates.

Residential and commuting transfer students: orientation sessions for transfer students - learn important Fisher-specific information about academic advising and more.

You’ll also have a chance to walk your schedule to find classrooms.


Tuesday, September 2: Now, Get to Class

As a new student, your first day of classes is dedicated to:

  • Academic meetings based on your interests or intended major.
  • An official welcome during the Matriculation Ceremony at 11 a.m. in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center Fieldhouse.
  • Classes start at 1:40 p.m.
